Jamaican Charts get Hot on ReverbNation!

reverbnation_900x700

Things have heated up quite a bit since I took the number one spot from Etana in the last week of February. I am still the number one artist on the Jamaican charts at this point in time, however I suspect that I could lose this position as early as tomorrow. Truth is, I didn't expect to hold it for more than a week as the national charts are usually dominated by Reggae artists. My primary genre is Hip Hop so I think it was a major achievement just getting there in the first place.

It is obvious that the work I've been doing over the last month or so has been having a positive impact on the growth and performance of other artists on the charts by way of stimulating its competitive nature through establishing new alliances and pushing the bar to a new level. As you can see from the charts in my last post, I beat Etana with 1424 to her 1322 points. Over the last two weeks I have pushed that to a high of 2026, with the first signs of decline coming in this morning (I lost 8 points).

I am still number one on the Hip Hop Charts and will be there for some time to come as 934 points above my nearest competitor and fellow roster mate L Bizzle, who took second place from SK Soundkillaz early last week. SK Soundkillaz made a big leap in points over the last few days to narrow the gap between themselves and L Bizzle, so this looks like it could get pretty interesting in the upcoming weeks.

In terms of alliances, I am now using my web-based record label and content management firm Flipsyde Entertainment to promote several of the artists on the charts on a voluntary basis. As such, we currently have three (3) of the top five (5) artist on both charts on our roster. This is a BIG achievement! However, I will write more about this in my next post called Flipsyde Entertainment Dominates Jamaican Charts on ReverbNation.

I really love the dynamism of these charts, as such I've come up with a new tagline "it's in the hands of the fans" to express how I feel. In theory, success on these charts really depends on the strength of the artist-fan relationship and its ability to create synergy around the idea of working together to achieve the shared goal of sustainable growth. I would like to say thanks fo all the individuals that made this possible and encourage those who support my music to continue as I have a far way to go.
